Rural services
The Municipality of Rantasalmi acts as host for the rural affairs administration of the municipalities of Joroinen, Juva, Sulkava and Rantasalmi.
The tasks of the sector include, among others, local agricultural subsidy administration (processing and payment of applications), game damage assessments concerning agriculture, assessment of agricultural damage caused by protected birds, and wild oat inspections. The cooperation area has 662 active farms (in 2021), of which 150 are in Joroinen. There are about 6,600 hectares of cultivated field in Joroinen.
From the beginning of 2022, agricultural relief services in Joroinen are part of the Southeast Finland relief area, administered by the City of Mikkeli. The shared relief service number for all entrepreneurs from 1 January 2022 is 015 194 2550. More information can be found on the relief services pages.
Central Savo Environmental Services provides the veterinary care and health supervision services for the Municipality of Joroinen.

Municipal support for livestock entrepreneurs
The municipality supports the coping of livestock entrepreneurs and the employment of livestock workers. Support can be granted for up to 150 hours per entrepreneur per calendar year.
The support requires that the farm has hired, or purchased, the work input of a person carrying out livestock work for the number of hours stated in the compensation application. The applicant for the support must demonstrate this with the necessary documents, for example a receipt or a copy of the employment contract. The amount of support is 7 € per hour.
Support is paid in the order of applications for as long as the appropriation lasts.
