Upper secondary school
In accordance with the curriculum, the upper secondary school provides students with a broad general education, eligibility for further studies, and the knowledge and skills needed in life.

The upper secondary school raises citizens with a positive attitude towards studying, cooperation, entrepreneurship and internationality. After upper secondary studies, students have excellent capabilities to succeed in their studies and working life.

The progress of studies can be planned flexibly, taking the student’s needs into account. In addition to A2-level German, foreign languages on offer include Russian, French, Latin and Japanese.
Volleyball-focused studies
Joroinen Upper Secondary School makes volleyball-focused studies possible!
On 20 February 2024, the Joroinen Education Committee decided to add volleyball coaching to the curriculum of Joroinen Upper Secondary School. The school offers students who play volleyball the opportunity to train on two mornings. One of the coaching sessions is general training and the other, longer session, is sport-specific coaching. The Education Committee’s decision supports the volleyball activities of Joroisten Urheilijat sports club.
Joroisten Urheilijat has both C and B junior teams for both girls and boys. The school’s focus supports a young volleyball player’s path towards becoming an athlete.
Internationality and entrepreneurship
The focus areas of Joroinen Upper Secondary School are internationality and entrepreneurship, which are part of the everyday activities of the school. Students grow towards internationality, entrepreneurship, activity and cooperation.
The school is active in various Erasmus+ projects. Every student has the opportunity to take part in trips abroad related to these projects. In addition, the second-year students of the upper secondary school take a two-week study trip to Central Europe every year.
In entrepreneurship studies, everyone has the opportunity to set up their own NY (Young Enterprise) or 4H company and learn many skills related to entrepreneurship. The studies include many company visits to businesses in the surrounding area, and cooperation with the local entrepreneurs’ association and area businesses is close. All students can also join the cooperative operating at the school, getting to know and practise entrepreneurship.
Sports academy
The upper secondary school has a sports academy that provides excellent facilities for practising many sports as well as a wide selection of course units in physical education. At the sports academy you can play volleyball, floorball and disc golf and take part in fitness training. Enthusiasts of all sports can take part in the academy’s activities.
Cooperation with higher education institutions
Joroinen Upper Secondary School cooperates with higher education institutions; for example, open university studies are possible already during upper secondary school. A cooperation agreement between the University of Eastern Finland and Joroinen Upper Secondary School enables graduating students to progress directly into the Master of Science in Technology programme at the university.
Joroinen Upper Secondary School actively cooperates with the surrounding community.
