Youth services
The basic task of the youth services is to support young people’s growth and independence, promote active citizenship, strengthen social wellbeing, and improve growth and living conditions.
Youth services include basic youth work (youth facilities, youth information, trips and events) as well as outreach youth work and guidance of the youth council.
Outreach youth work
The primary task of outreach work is to help young people under 29 who are outside education or the labour market, or who need support to access the services they need.
Outreach youth work offers young people early support, if they want it themselves. However, outreach youth work is intended for all young people who feel they need help planning their future or solving problems they encounter. Participation is voluntary for the young person.
Outreach youth work takes the young person’s life into account as a whole and aims to reduce so-called “bouncing” between services. Outreach youth work goes out into young people’s everyday lives and spaces. In practice, this means that meetings with young people take place at a location chosen by the young person, and the worker can accompany the young person when dealing with various authorities and other parties. The strength of this way of working is its flexibility and ability to respond quickly according to the situation.
Contact outreach youth work if you, for example, do not have a study place, are unemployed, are thinking about dropping out of school, or need advice, support and help with your life situation. You can also contact outreach youth work if someone close to you needs help and you are worried about them.

Youth information
Youth information is a service that provides young people with professional help, support and information on various issues related to their lives, through youth information and counselling.
In the municipality of Joroinen, youth information is handled by youth instructors.

Varkaus region Ohjaamo – Joroinen office
Ohjaamo is a one-stop service point for all young people under 30, where they receive personal guidance, support and advice. Ohjaamo brings together professionals from many different fields under one roof.
The Joroinen office is located at the youth workshop premises (Mutalantie 4) and is open on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 15:00.

- housing and managing everyday life
- finances
- filling in forms
- finding suitable hobbies
- dealing with authorities
At Ohjaamo you can talk about things on your mind with a trusted adult. The service is free of charge, and if you wish, you can use it without giving your name. You can come to us in person without an appointment, call us, or contact us on social media.
