Youth services
The core task of youth services is to support the growth and independence of young people, to promote active citizenship, to provide social strengthening and to improve their growing and living conditions.
Youth services comprise basic youth work (youth premises, youth information services, excursions and events) as well as outreach youth work and guidance of the youth council.
Outreach youth work
The primary task of outreach work is to help young people under the age of 29 who are outside education or the labour market, or who need support in reaching the services they need.
Outreach youth work offers young people early support if they want it themselves. It is, however, intended for all young people who feel that they need help in planning their future or in solving problems they encounter. Taking part is voluntary for the young person.
Outreach youth work looks at the young person’s life as a whole and seeks to reduce the need for young people to be sent from one service desk to another. Outreach youth work goes out into young people’s everyday lives and spaces. In practice this means that meetings with young people take place in a location chosen by the young person, and the worker is able to accompany the young person when dealing with various authorities and other bodies. The strengths of this way of working are flexibility and quick reaction according to the situation.
Contact outreach youth work if, for example, you have no study place, you are unemployed, you are thinking of dropping out of school, or you need advice, support and help with your own life situation. You can also contact outreach youth work if there is someone close to you who needs help and you are worried about them.

Youth information services
Youth information is a form of service that provides young people with professional help, support and information on a range of questions relating to their lives, using youth information and guidance methods.
In the municipality of Joroinen, youth information is provided by the youth instructors.

Ohjaamo of the Varkaus region – Joroinen office
Ohjaamo is a one-stop service point for everyone under the age of 30, where young people receive personal guidance, support and advice. At Ohjaamo, professionals from a number of different fields work under one roof.
The Joroinen office is located on the premises of the youth workshop (Mutalantie 4) and is open on Wednesdays 13–15.

- job seeking
- housing and managing everyday life
- personal finances
- filling in forms
- finding suitable hobbies
- dealing with the authorities
At Ohjaamo you can talk about whatever is on your mind with an adult you can trust. The service is free of charge and, if you wish, you can use it without giving your name. You can come and see us without an appointment, call us or contact us on social media.
