Over the years, the Song of Joroinen has become familiar to many residents of Joroinen. The lyrics were written by Elina Haaranen in 1978, and the music was composed by Pentti Lasanen in 1979. The Song of Joroinen was born as the result of a lyrics and composition competition held by the Opistolaiskunta student association.

Four versions of the song on YouTube
On 11 October 2023, four different versions of the Song of Joroinen were published on the municipality’s YouTube channel.
Traditional sung version
A single-voice version sung and played by Riikka Leppänen, cantor of the Joroinen parish, with the lyrics shown along the way. The video is excellent as support for learning the song.
Punk-rock arrangement
A punk-rock-spirited arrangement performed by Riikka Leppänen, municipal manager Jaakko Kuronen, municipal councillor Jarno Pettersson and Matti Pentikäinen, who also plays the song. The sound was mastered by Olli “Hude” Huttunen.
Choir arrangement (Tuplakvartetti)
The choir arrangement is performed by Tuplakvartetti. The singers in Tuplakvartetti are Elisa Hämäläinen, Merja Kujanpää, Jarmo Pyysalo, Maija Särkkä, Heimo Vaskelainen, Raimo Vaskelainen, Lauri Voutilainen and Jaana Westerling-Mihaljov.

Background to the idea
The idea for the Song of Joroinen videos arose in connection with Joroinen’s 390th anniversary celebration in 2021. At that time it was noted that video material would be useful as support for learning the song. Now this idea has come true.
