Outdoor sports facilities
Joroinen offers diverse opportunities for outdoor exercise and moving about in nature all year round.
In the winter season, ice areas, ski tracks and a winter swimming option are available. Fitness trails as well as fishing and canoeing routes invite you to move close to nature in different seasons. In addition, sports fields and disc golf courses offer space for active and independent recreation for people of all ages.

Church village

In the church village, near the sports hall, there is an ice hockey rink. At the end of the rink there is a free skating area suitable for younger users. The ice areas start to be frozen as soon as the weather allows.

Ski tracks
In winter, depending on the snow situation, several ski tracks are maintained in different parts of the municipality of Joroinen. You can check the maintenance status of the tracks on the ski track maintenance status pages.
Joroinen church village ski tracks
In winter, the fitness track starting from the Joroinen sports field has high-quality, well-maintained ski tracks that are 6.5 km, 5 km and 3 km in length. If there is not a normal amount of snow for the season, a 1–3 km track is made on the fitness track.
Kanava ski tracks (Kotkatharju outdoor area)
At Kanava there is a 3 km unlit ski track.
Kuvansi ski tracks
From the sports field next to the Kuvansi school there is one track, with 1 km of lit track and a total loop length of about 3 km.
Maavesi ski tracks
At Maavesi there is a lit 1.6 km track and a 3 km unlit track.
Koskenkylä, Kerisalo and Kaitainen ski tracks
In Koskenkylä there is a 1 km unlit track, and in both Kerisalo and Kaitainen there are 1.7 km lit tracks.
Winter swimming
The winter swimming spot at Kolppa beach (Tuohilahdentie 132) is available to those who have collected a key from 1 October 2025 to 30 April 2026. Use of the winter swimming spot is at your own risk.
Right of use and collecting the key
A winter swimming season fee of 35 € / person (incl. VAT 13.5%) + a 10 € deposit are paid when collecting the key. The deposit is refunded when the key is returned. The key must be returned to the library by 8 June 2026. A lost key is charged at 30 €.
The key is personal/family-specific, so only members of the same household have the right to use the swimming spot with the same key during the season. The key is available from the library on Mon 9.00–17.45 and Tue–Fri 9.00–16.00.

Those who have obtained the right to use the winter swimming spot agree together on the sauna heating shifts. It is every visitor’s responsibility to take care of cleaning up after themselves, switching off the lights, and ensuring that the sauna stove has gone out when the sauna shifts end.
Fishing and canoeing
Fishing
Fishing can be pursued in the most significant water areas of Joroinen, which are Joroisselkä-Haapaselkä, Sysmä, Syvänsi and part of Sorsavesi. The waters of the area are managed with continuous stocking and other management measures. Fish stocked annually include, among others, pikeperch, whitefish, lake trout and grayling. The likelihood of a catch in the area is high thanks to the stocking and the good fish stock.
Canoeing
From Syvänsi via Huutokoski to Joroisselkä runs a 30-kilometre-long natural canoeing route suitable for independent canoeing. You can view the exact canoeing route on the route’s LIPAS pages.
Swimming beaches
The Municipality of Joroinen maintains three swimming beaches: the Kolppa, Venesatama and Paavalinkivi beaches. In addition, the municipality has swimming beaches maintained by various villages.

From the end of the sports field there is a 5 km lit fitness track surfaced with stone dust.
Kuvansi fitness track

Of the Kuvansi fitness track, 1.5 km is lit. The fitness track was renovated in 2015 and 2016.
Kotkatharju fitness stairs

The 150-step fitness stairs, completed in 2018, are located in the Kotkatharju outdoor area. The stairs are made of treated timber. Note: no winter maintenance.
Disc golf courses
Joroinen has several disc golf courses for players of different levels. The Kanava and Kotkatharju courses are located in the Kotkatharju outdoor area.
Rapila disc golf course

Kanava disc golf course
The Kanava disc golf course is located at Kotkatlahdentie 186. An 18-hole, high-quality and well-maintained course. Classification AA1. More information about the Kanava course »
Kotkatharju disc golf course
The Kotkatharju course opened in autumn 2016. Combined with the Kanava course, the whole is 36 holes, currently the longest course in Finland. Classification AAA1 (international competition level). An easier 18-hole white layout is also available. More information about the Kotkatharju course »
Kaitainen disc golf course

Hui-Maa Family Park
Hui-Maa Family Park is a meeting place for people of different ages, completed in the centre of Joroinen during the summer of 2018.
Hui-Maa Family Park has an outdoor gym area, a traffic park, diverse playground equipment, a stage, chairs and benches, as well as what is reportedly the highest climbing spot in Finland, the top of which is at a height of 10 metres.

Joroinen sports field

The Joroinen sports field is located next to the sports hall. The field has a sand artificial turf surface and the boundaries for Finnish baseball and football fields. The field also offers opportunities for running, long jump, high jump and shot put.
At the end of the sports field there are diverse fitness exercise devices that are freely available all year round. In addition, a 5 km lit fitness track starts from there. At the beginning of the fitness track there is a skate park with various skating equipment and a skate ramp.
At the end of the sports field there are also two competition-level beach volleyball courts, which are freely available to everyone.
Kuvansi grass field

The Kuvansi grass field makes it possible to play football and practise athletics (300 m, 4 lanes), for example.
Local sports facility at the church village school centre

In the yard area of the Joroinen comprehensive school, between the schools, there is a local sports facility, a sand artificial turf multi-game arena. Usage shifts can be booked from a list at the end of the rink. The place is free of charge and you can play football or tennis there, for example.
