Sports and hobbies
Joroinen has a diverse range of sports facilities for both outdoor and indoor activities. Available to you are, for example, sports fields, swimming beaches, disc golf courses, as well as a sports hall and gym. Joroinen library serves Kirkonkylä and the regional mobile library Jasso Toenperä serves the sparsely populated areas and Kuvansi.
Events, facilities and tourism
The village community of Joroinen offers events ranging from evening markets to music days and triathlon. The ridge landscapes, trails, disc golf and Manor Golf invite outdoor activities, and diverse accommodation introduces the area’s history. Associations and clubs complement the offering with support from the municipality.

Education and recreation grants
Organisations and activity groups may apply for activity grants from the municipality for their own activities. Grants are allocated at the discretion of the municipality and are paid against receipts or instructor diaries submitted.
An organisation may apply for a grant for the same purpose during the year from only one service unit (culture, sports or youth). Organisations must submit annual financial statements to the grant provider.
Cultural services
Karhulahti Local Heritage Museum
A peasant museum whose history can be traced back to the 16th century. Furnished in 1920s style as a rural home. There are chickens and sheep in the yard.

Children’s Culture Centre Verso
A network-based children’s culture centre operating under the City of Varkaus. The offering includes storytelling sessions, art and culture workshops as well as performances.
Kaiku Card
A card for residents of North Savo in difficult financial circumstances, providing free admission to cultural and sports venues as well as course places at civic colleges.
