Youth services
The basic task of youth services is to support the growth and independence of young people, to promote active citizenship, to provide social strengthening and to improve growth and living conditions.
Youth services include basic youth work (youth facilities, youth information, excursion and event activities) as well as outreach youth work and the guidance of the youth council.
Outreach youth work
The primary task of outreach work is to help young people under the age of 29 who are outside education or the labour market, or who need support in order to access the services they need.
Outreach youth work provides early support to a young person if they want it themselves. However, outreach youth work is intended for all young people who feel they need help in planning their future or in solving problems they encounter. The work is voluntary for the young person.
In outreach youth work, the young person’s life is considered as a whole, and the aim is to reduce the so-called shuffling of young people from one service desk to another. Outreach youth work goes out into the everyday life and spaces of young people. In concrete terms, this means that meetings with young people take place in a location chosen by the young person, and the worker has the possibility to accompany the young person when dealing with various authorities and other actors. The strength of this form of work is its flexibility and quick reaction according to the situation.
Contact outreach youth work if you are, for example, without a study place, unemployed, considering dropping out of school, or in need of advice, support and help with your own life situation. You can also contact outreach youth work if there is someone in need in your close circle whom you are worried about.
