Waste management

Joroinen belongs to the operating area of Central Savo Waste Management. The Riikinneva waste centre is located in Leppävirta.

Recycling points

Recycling points are intended for recyclable household waste suitable for utilisation. In the operating area of Central Savo Waste Management, there are both recycling points maintained and managed by Central Savo Waste Management and Rinki recycling points maintained by Finnish Packaging Recycling RINKI Ltd.

Joroinen sorting station and recycling centre

At the Joroinen sorting station, household waste is received as well as intact usable goods for the recycling centre’s flea market. The station operates at the premises of the Joroinen workshop of the Central Savo Employment Area.

Free reception

At the sorting station, scrap metal, hazardous waste and electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) are received free of charge.

Hazardous waste and electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) can also be taken directly to the Riikinneva waste centre. Contact details and opening hours can be found on the Central Savo Waste Management website.

Chargeable reception of mixed waste and glass/ceramic waste

• Large furniture (e.g. sofa, double bed, bookshelf) 15 €/item
• Small furniture (e.g. armchair, 80–90 cm bed, table, chair) 10 €/item
• Foam/superlon mattresses 7 €/item
• Other items 10 €/item
• Dirty and broken textiles and dishes 0.50 €/kg

Recycling centre and flea market

The recycling centre and flea market for items to be discarded are located at the premises of the Joroinen workshop of the Central Savo Employment Area, where intact and tidy usable goods are accepted: furniture, dishes, decorative items, toys, household linen and other usable items.

The recycling centre and flea market also serves as a collection point for discarded textiles.

Ekotori municipal tours

The Ekotori recycling vehicle makes municipal tours once a month in the municipalities of the waste management area. You can return WEEE devices in any condition to the vehicle, as well as other recyclable household goods.

Dog waste bin

Dog waste bin stickers are available at the church village library and at the café of the Joroinen bakery in Kuvansi.

The Municipality of Joroinen distributes dog waste bin stickers to be attached to waste containers and shelters owned by detached houses. With the sticker, you give permission for a dog walker to place a closed dog waste bag in that container.

The purpose of the stickers is to enable the residents of the Municipality of Joroinen to take part in maintaining shared cleanliness. In apartment buildings and terraced houses, the sticker may only be added with the permission of the housing company.
